Description:

The Archaeology Repository seeks a detail-oriented work-study student to help with the management of a collection of artifacts recovered from southwestern Utah. This position offers practical experience in collection and related records management, historical preservation, and collections organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform data entry to update and maintain accurate collection records.
  • Catalog and physically process archaeological artifacts from Southwestern Utah.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and upkeep of artifacts, physical storage spaces, and archival materials to ensure preservation standards.
  • May occasionally assist with responsibilities related to Utah Project Archaeology, which provides workshops for educators interested in teaching archaeology.

Qualifications:

Ideal Qualifications

  • Current student eligible for Federal Work-Study.
  • Demonstrated interest or coursework in archaeology, anthropology, history, and/or museum studies.
  • Basic proficiency with data entry, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
  • Attention to detail, with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle fragile and historically significant items with care.
